Inspired by the novel The Cellist of Sarajevo, Kenan is tasked with fetching water in the middle of the war as he takes this journey everyday he is burdened by the everyday fear of not coming home. He battles his conscience of keeping a promise to his neighbour, the promise he made before the war to bring her a vessel of water each day. As the war breaks, Kenan struggles with the worry, anxiety that the extra given to his neighbour meant one less for his family. A struggle in simply how we want to define ourselves as humans.
Once a simple task taken for granted has become a reflective journey of how one lives. We are all vessels of meaning, like free flowing water we fill our souls seeking to understand, longing for more until we are full then we empty and repeat. We are ever growing trying to find the answer to right and wrong. While this begins inwards, it is ever reflected by our actions outward. A continuous cycle and evaluation of our struggles, constantly being introspective.
